"bee"ing open

I had a discussion with a woman I am coaching a few weeks ago and I thought something she said was very important to share. She is strong in her religious faith and said when she hears or reads something she doesn’t totally agree with, she thinks of it like eating a chicken.  She eats the parts she likes and throws away the bones.

I like to think of “bee”ing open as a box of chocolates (and yes, I am a chocoholic).   I can sample the ones I like and leave the others in the box.  If I take a bite of one that doesn’t taste good to me, I can leave it half eaten in the box or simply throw it out.  It’s really a metaphor for being open and willing to try new things and to know when something feels “right” based on your own inner guidance or intuition.  If your core belief is strong, you are not afraid of learning about the world.   Life is very interesting when you are not afraid of other ideas, cultures or religions.  When we stay “open” to what is around us we start to notice amazing things.   

One of the things that Kim and Jody have said since they started Buzzen is they want it to be inclusive of all women.  That includes age, color, religion, beliefs, everything!  We want your granny to be buzzen!  Let’s face it, you wouldn’t be here in the Buzzen inner circle if you weren’t curious about this journey we call life.  Curiosity makes our life exciting!  So instead of shutting off possibilities, be curious about what you read and hear.  Ask questions.  Challenge yourself to stay open.  You understand yourself when you understand others. 

What does being open mean?  Being open means you look beyond someone’s religion, belief, age or color into the human heart.  It means someone across the world feels the same exhilarating joy when their baby comes into the world.  It means that your office mate may have the same fear of failure as you.  Are you curious? Good.  We will teach you how to open those discussions.

If you don’t agree with something, that’s ok.  But living powerfully is to acknowledge and honor that another person has the right to their own viewpoint. 

Like a million snowflakes we are all different and yet we are all the same. 

Here at Buzzen, we want you to sample everything.  You may have come into The Hive not even really knowing what you were signing on for…just pure trust or faith in the person who invited you.   We want you to feel good and are not here to tell you that you have to believe anything you don’t want to.  We just ask that you be open and sample everything you can…the blog, the movies, the photos, -- click on everything!
