How the Ordinary can be Extraordinary

Tuesday, December 18th 2007 @ 6:13 PM (not yet rated)    post viewed 850 times

I shared this story with my Buzzen group members and thought it important to share with the rest of the members as many are mothers who are often cheated from that all too precious good night sleep.  This is just one example of the wonders of the Ordinary is Extraodinary game and how it can change your life.

The other morning my 3 year old daughter woke me up a little before 4am because she couldn't find her beloved bunny (Bob) and was having trouble sleeping.  Without thinking much about it I scooped her up and tucked her in close to me, which is something I wouldn't ordinarily do because she is a restless sleeper.  My mind went immediately to "You aren't going to get any sleep, you're going to be exhausted all day now" and then all of a sudden I noticed how her breath felt on my cheek; soft and warm with a hint of her watermelon toothpaste.

I rested my head right next to hers and just breathed her in.  Her chubby little cheek was pressed against the pillow causing her lips to purse and make her look like a little Cupie Doll.  I caressed her cheek without causing her to even stir and ran my fingers through her hair, then tucked it neatly behind her ear.  Anytime she sensed me moving away from her she would almost instinctively position her body snuggly close to mine.  She felt so warm, like the stuffed animal I used to cling to as a child.

What an amazing bond between mother and child and what an amazing gift I'd been given.  It brings tears to my eyes at the permanent memory I have stored away of that one moment with my daughter.

The reason for sharing this story is two fold: first is to point out the various ways in which the Universe communicates with us.  If we are closed off to this divine communication we miss out on the various ways it chooses to reach us and the message and lesson that ensue.  We get these various "messages" as a result of our asking, so always remember to be open to the ways you are reached.  Know that they are exactly what you need at the exact time you need it.  Know that the resulting gift will outweigh any loss (in my case, sleep).  Rejoice knowing that something magical is at work in your life and be thankful for it.

And two, when the Universe calls, even at 4am, DON'T GO BACK TO SLEEP!

Love and well wishes
